VANDEVENTER MIDDLE SCHOOL BAND BOOSTER
Private Lesson Scholarship Application
The Vandeventer Middle School Band Boosters has budgeted a finite amount of funds for the purpose of supplementing the instrumental private lesson program at Vandeventer Middle School. Only current and qualified Vandeventer Middle School band members are eligible. With the limitation of funds, completion of this application does not guarantee acceptance. This scholarship is designed to match half of the current private lesson price of $23.00 per lesson. The recipient of these lessons is responsible for the other half of the lesson totaling $11.00 for each weekly lesson. Scholarships will be awarded based on need and available funds on a first come first serve basis.
If the applicant is accepted into the Scholarship program, the recipient will receive a MAXIMUM of 30 lessons during the school year. After the 30-lesson max is met, the student will cover any subsequent lessons.
Criteria for Selection:
Demonstrate a financial hardship, which would prevent payment of the full amount of private lessons. Must be verified through a discussion with a band director.
Student must demonstrate willingness to prepare for each lesson and make weekly progress as deemed by the private lesson teacher and the band director.
Student must demonstrate willingness to attend ALL lessons scheduled for the semester.
Student must be in good academic standing.
Missed lessons will NOT be paid by scholarship. (Recipients agree to pay the full lesson amount for unexcused absences.)
There are a limited number of scholarships available; as a result, scholarships may be revoked for the following reasons:
Students regularly do not attend band events or follow band policies. (such as attending concerts, rehearsals, and items outlined in the Vandeventer Middle School band handbook).
Students are no longer a member of the Vandeventer Middle School Band.
Students have 2 or more unexcused absences from private lessons.
Students must be and remain in good academic standing during the scholarship period.
